This looks like my kind of festival with a line up like this. MA and Chantel McGregor on the same bill, and Larry Miller and Walter Trout are both on my radar for 2011. It would be nice if Cleethorpes was a bit nearer to home, but I hope to be there.

With MA being the only band on the bill not associated with blues music, perhaps there's a case for re-naming it the Mostly Blues Festival. Be interesting to see who the other one or two bands to complete the line up are going to be. Chantel is often called a blues guitarist, but she normally only does a couple of out and out blues tunes. The Hendrix classic Red House and Zeppelin's Tea For One. To me, she is a classic rock guitarist. She could, though, do an entire set of blues if she wanted to.

Advertised as appearing at Bury Met on 21 May - which unfortunately clashes with the Electric Garden Festival in Blackpool. emoticon

my son is the joiner at pleasure island (cleethorpes) he is also the bass player in a local band. so knows the promoter pretty well. he has had several meetings with the management of pleasure island regarding the stage and where it should be situated. by all accounts he is having an accoustic stage as well. this would be ideal for people like mark atkinson, liam, heather members of breathing space. i dont know if solid entertainments are asking artists to contact them or if they have an idea of the artists they are looking for.
i,ll keep you all posted if i find anything out. obviously this is all unofficial and may be subject to change

The line up for these two Blues Festivals just keeps getting better and better. Wilko Johnson now added to the bill. Excellent!

DURHAM Blues festival? Interesting. Right after term ends as well... sounds like a plan!
